The first question I am typically asked is, "What is a pourquoi story?" That's a great question!
The word pourquoi is French. It means "why."
A pourquoi story is one that creatively explains why something is the way it is. These are also known as origin stories, legends, or folk tales. Many cultures created these stories as a means of explanation and entertainment.
Why the Tiger has Stripes Why Giraffes Have Long Necks Why Snakes Have No Legs
Not all pourquoi stories have been about animals. Some were designed to explain land or sky features. It was common for Native American tribes, such as the Comanche and Cherokee, to spin stories too.
The Legend of Bluebonnet The Story of the Milky Way
My love of storytelling and fascination with these types of fictional narratives inspired me to write one too.
A SECLUSIVE BUG BONUS!
Over here, sanctioned off in my little corner of the internet, I thought I might add some joy to the lives of any children, parents, and teachers who happen to love stories like I do!
So, have a seat, get comfy and cozy, and enjoy How the Ladybug Got Her Spots along with me.
It was so much fun creating and writing this story. I hope you enjoyed it too.
