"Melissa does an incredible job of explaining the fundamentals of writing and making it so fun for the kids. We used her program for both my boys, and it totally turned around their views on writing. They loved it!!"

"We love Write on Webb! My boys love it because Melissa has a super encouraging and engaging personality that hooks my kids into the month's project. I love it because it is one less subject that I have to tackle in our homeschool. It is such a blessing to see them develop as writers. Melissa is quick to respond when we have questions and makes each of her students feel valued. I cannot recommend her classes enough!"

Lyndell (Homeschool Mom)

Writing Course Comments

"My daughter has been doing Melissa's persuasive writing course this month, and it is seriously amazing. Sadie dreads writing, but now it is the first thing she asks to do each day! Melissa has made teaching and learning writing fun and painless. We can't wait for next month. I love how Melissa offers Level 1 (single paragraph), Level 2 (3 paragraphs) and Level 3 (5 paragraphs) because it makes her program work for grades 3 to 8." ~Christy Hartman

“As a homeschool mom, I understand the importance of having exceptional writing skills. Therefore, I was so thankful when my older son started your class. Not only did your class help him learn and grow in his writing, but I Iearned so much from you. As a result of this, I have been able to pass these writing skills on to my younger son. Thank you for your help and willingness to teach my children.” ~Kristina Ohr

“It is very difficult to help your children improve if they don’t get started and actually write. I think Melissa’s most important ingredient was her inspiration. Once my daughter actually put words on a page (and was eager to do so), the teaching took off and Melissa was able to guide her to amazing improvements.” ~Mina Zambrano

"I have been homeschooling for awhile now, and this is the first time I have found a writing program that fits ALL of my needs. I feel like I've tried them all. I tell everyone who will listen about how your program has lifted the burden of writing from my shoulders!" ~Lyndell Castro

"When are signs-ups for next semester?!  We really love the way you teach! As an added bonus, you are so kind and positive to all the kids." ~ Jenny Johnson
"Ryan wants to enroll in another semester of your writing classes. He actually used the word "fun!" to describe it which makes this Mom very happy. He really did learn a lot, and the accountability to someone other than your Mom/Homeschool Teacher is definitely a good thing!" ~Melissa Mohr

“I want to thank you for holding the student webinar for my daughter. I was on with her because she tried to bail out; she’s never been on an online training webinar before. Well, we were both pulled into your training within minutes.  You made a big difference in my daughter's confidence level and understanding of how to take a test. Even my six-year-old heard the call and started applying the information. Thank you for all you included in the webinar. It was a price difference in my kids' attitude."~Yulia Rossignoli
Thank you so much, Melissa, for all that you do!  My daughter loved this class, and it was her first with you.  We are so grateful that you spend so much time putting these together for our kiddos, it gives them a platform to be themselves and SHINE! - Many, many thanks,  The Bedard Family
I wanted to tell you how much I’ve appreciated the writing course.  I really hope that Sage Oak asks to present it to us again next year..  What you have created at WriteonWebb is really amazing.  I appreciate how you break things down so we as parents understand what’s being asked of the kids on test day. Of course, the benefits surpass the testing alone.  Both of my sons struggle with writing (“Are we done yet?”) so this has been so helpful in teaching them how to organize their thoughts.  Thank you!  Thank you! - Haley Salazar

I just wanted to drop you a little note about your program. We only just started getting into working on it because I hadn’t figured out that we had actually started with unit two, silly me! Yesterday, Noah and I worked hard to catch him up.  Today he sat down and wrote well over a page and was so excited to show me his story at the end. This is the child that I had to sit next to and handover hand help him with assignments. He would spend hours to write three sentences.  Today when he finished writing his story he asked me why I was crying.  I’m not usually that emotional but I just can’t explain how grateful I am for your program and the work that you do with these kids.  He’s not even done, and I just see such a huge difference in his attitude towards writing.  It is because of the way you explain it, and it is actually getting him somewhere.  I know he’s not at grade level yet, but I’m so thrilled.  Thank you, Noah’s Mom

Hi, Mrs. Webb.  I just wanted to tell you something; my argumentative writing paper was published by Saving Huey Foundation! It is an animal rescue who loved the idea of no more puppy mills. I just wanted you to know because you helped me so much!  Thank you!  - Student
Hi, Melissa! Let me just say that I am so thankful for your classes.  Emilee used to dread writing anything, but your classes have given her an enthusiasm that brings me joy.  It is because you have enthusiasm and joy for what you do, and it overflows into your students. You are an amazing person! Many thanks, Wendi
I don’t think of this project as work. I think of it as something more fun.  Thank you for your support!
Thank you for always getting back to me and thank you so much for your amazing attitude. You are such a breath of fresh air, with your amazing attitude and smiles, you make everyone feel welcome and ready to start an amazing school year. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you and all you do for us. - Sonja
Brianna took the Tuesday class. Loved it! Loved you! Today we did the videos for the week. Got her 5w sheet setup with your heading for each “w” based on your example. Our child is excited and ready to work starting tomorrow. This is a BIG deal...my reluctant, at times fearful writer with tears is actually smiling. Thank you! So keep the good vibrations flowing. - Michele
She is loving your writing course, and the workshops are invaluable.  Madelyn gets so much out of each workshop; we’re grateful that you offer it each week with the course.  -  Annie
What do you think of my essay? I was so proud that Mrs. Melissa let me read it in the showcase today.  Took me most of the day to redo it because I messed up before, but I am learning to write better.  I love her class. Now I am going to learn how to write level 2. - Student
Thanks for being there for all of us.   You make us all so happy.  If I had a teacher like you when I was a kid, I would never forget him/her.  I’m just happy I met you now.  Thanks for all you do.  You’re a super hero in my eyes.  -  Student

You are a super inspirational teacher to every kid and especially me. You’re super organized and the best teacher.  You are just so nice in class and if we have a problem, you fix it.  Just remember you are loved. - Student
Comments from Parents of Students attending the Write On Webb Test Prep Course - April of 2019
"This is the first program that has actually explained the CAASP test and what students need to know for it. Your program really 'opened' my eyes and made me feel much more confident in what I needed to do to prepare my child. Thank you so much for that."
"Mrs. Webb's videos are so thoughtful and personal. She speaks to us in a  way that you completely understand what she is teaching. It doesn't go over our heads. The resources are so helpful. I used every one!"
"This course was super helpful in clarifying state testing standards and how to equip my student to reach those standards.  He feels so much more confident about meeting expectations for writing expository, persuasive or a personal narrative, and I feel (almost) excited to see how this course will positively impact his final test score!"
"I appreciated the clear ideas on how to help my student write well."
"Great ideas -- we want more of your direction! Looking forward to next year."
"I liked the guided course and schedule. It helped a lot!"
"Along with lesson plans for the 3 types of writing prompts that can be accessed for a year, Ms. Webb even includes editing sheets that we can use with our kids.  I love that my 8th grade daughter loves the pen with 4 colors to use when editing her paper, and that my son gets that the 4 colors means there is more to edit. Attending this course with other homeschool moms is a great picture of the homeschool community coming together. Melissa Webb was a homeschool mom who gets us all and wants to help us.  What a blessing! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
"I liked how you broke it down into days. English is a strong subject for me, but I've never had to teach it.  Your tools enabled me to help my kids break things down and do a little at a time.  Good job, and thank you!"
"Great Course! This helped me understand the 3 basic categories of writing and helped me better guide my student."
"Most helpful in setting clear expectations for what is required of each writing style and implementing usable methods/structures for the  student to feel less anxious going into writing test."
"This was a helpful resource that the school provided! I'm thankful that I was offered this course to prep before state testing and for an in-depth look at writing in general."

The Proof is in the Pudding

There are so many factors that play a part in a child's testing experience. Knowing the material is a critical component. However, it is also important to show up feeling confident and equipped. Focusing for an extended amount of time is necessary, too. When all of these pieces align, children perform amazingly well. It is my honor and privilege to play a part in these success stories. As we all know, "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink." The true heroes of these success stories are the young writers themselves. I'm so proud of every one of them.
"Liana took your test preparation course through Valiant last year and passed her California testing with a very high level three score for English. She was only 20 points away from level four. I was so impressed with her results! She has always been strong in language arts, but she didn't know how to type. It was helpful to find out that the test is computer-based. Also, we did not cover essay writing all year. So, she went from 0 to 180 in two months!"
